About the Role:
In the role of Flights Test Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting test flights of the Terminal Autonomy fleet of fixed-wing aircraft, with experience in both fixed-wing and quadcopter flight. You will be a part of an inclusive, motivated, and high-results-driven international team. Assembling, pre-flighting, launching, and recovering unmanned aircraft in order to test and optimize TA’s operational systems and validate new engineering changes as well as software and hardware in the early stages of development.
Tasks you will be required to fulfill:
- Test fly the Terminal Autonomy autonomous aircraft and provide data analysis on the flight log
- Maintaining the existing fleet of aircraft and ground equipment, as well as maintaining new systems we are building for function-specific flight tests.
- Record and debrief flights and run tests to validate system improvements, new technology for performance and design validation, and new processes.
- Looking for opportunities to continuously improve our processes, safety protocols, our hardware and software, and make operations easier and more efficient for operations centers around the world. You will be called upon to provide detailed feedback to design engineers.
- Support the development and certification of aircraft
- Develop and maintain flight controls regression test suite
- Perform other duties that may be required
Requirements
- FAA Commercial or Private Pilot Certificate
- FAA Remote Pilot Certificate
- 1+ years working in the UAS space
- Must be able to travel 20 %- 30%, as necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in a manned aviation organization
- Experience with flight instruction and/or flight standardization (manned or sUAS)
- Experience in the development of flight manuals, training materials, and operational procedures for sUAS operations
